Reporting and appeals policy · Updated 2 October 2026
Report an unsafe or misleading listing
Report suspected unlawful content, malware, scams, impersonation, prohibited age-restricted content, harassment, deceptive rights claims, or unsafe server information. Use a subject such as ModPorts listing report. Include the project name, exact ModPorts listing ID or GitHub URL, what is wrong, when you observed it, and a way to reach you. State what you observed separately from what you suspect. Link to lawful supporting evidence rather than sending executables or game assets.
Copyright, trademark, privacy, and other rights complaints
Use the subject ModPorts rights complaint and include:
- Your name or organization, contact email, and whether you are the rights holder or an authorized representative.
- The work, trademark, or other right affected; a link or description sufficient to identify it; and your authority to report.
- The exact ModPorts listing or link you want reviewed and a specific explanation of the alleged violation. Identify relevant material in the linked project without sending us the files.
- Relevant licenses, permissions, evidence, or other facts, and the action you request.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorized or otherwise violates the identified right, that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you are authorized to submit the complaint.
- Your typed name as an electronic signature. If applicable law requires additional notice information or a particular declaration, include it through the appropriate lawful process.
This checklist supports review; it is not a claim that ModPorts has a registered copyright agent or qualifies for a statutory safe harbor. For files actually hosted elsewhere, use GitHub's or the hosting provider's rights-report process as well. A ModPorts removal hides the directory listing; it cannot erase third-party files. Never send unlawful images, unnecessary personal information, passwords, or tokens.
What happens after a report
The operator or authorized moderators review the information, may seek clarification or evidence, and may hide a listing while investigating. Where appropriate, we contact the creator for a response and can request changes, reject a submission, or remove a published listing. Approval does not prevent later reporting. A report alone does not prove infringement, and incomplete or disputed information may require further review.
Repeated substantiated infringement and serious abuse can lead to restriction of listing privileges. These are operator-administered actions, not a promise of automated detection or an automatic ban system. We aim to explain relevant decisions where appropriate, but legal duties, privacy, and security may prevent sharing confidential evidence. No fixed response time or 24-hour monitoring is promised; applicable legal obligations still apply.
Relevant report details may be shared with the creator so they can respond. Tell us if particular contact information should remain private; we cannot promise absolute confidentiality where disclosure is legally required. Knowingly false reports, harassment, and abusive use of the process violate the Terms.
Mistakes, responses, and moderation appeals
If you are the affected creator, or believe a report or moderation decision is mistaken, email ModPorts moderation appeal with your GitHub username, listing ID or URL, the decision being challenged, and the reasons and evidence. Include permissions or license information where relevant. Do not resubmit removed content or evade moderation while review is pending.
We may verify account control and ask for clarification, then uphold, change, or reverse the decision as warranted. Restoration is not automatic and there is no guaranteed outcome or fixed appeal deadline. This appeal is not a statutory counter-notice and does not replace any applicable legal process. Legal challenges, consumer remedies, and regulator complaints remain available where applicable.
Manage your own listing
Sign in with GitHub and open My dashboard. Edits return the listing to private review. Withdrawal immediately hides it from the public catalog, but does not erase stored metadata and moderation history. You can request withdrawal by email after identity verification if you cannot access the dashboard or do not accept revised terms. Contact moderation to discuss restoration; it is not guaranteed.
Account and privacy requests
For access, correction, deletion, or other applicable privacy rights, include your GitHub username and requested action. We verify ownership before acting and explain any necessary retention. Do not send passwords or authentication codes. Requests do not require acceptance of updated terms. See the Privacy notice.
Private security reports
Use ModPorts security report with the affected URL, a concise description, impact, and non-destructive reproduction steps. Do not publish sensitive exploit details in public GitHub issues. Do not access another account, extract private records, upload exploit files, or disrupt systems. There is no blanket authorization for penetration testing or promised bug bounty. Creator-operated servers are outside ModPorts' control; also contact the relevant operator when appropriate.
Emergency and legal limits
This inbox is not an emergency service. For immediate danger, contact the appropriate local authority. Do not send illegal material to demonstrate a problem. Qualified counsel must review the operator's legal identity, service address, jurisdiction-specific notice obligations, and any registered-agent requirements. Neither this process nor a no-upload architecture guarantees immunity from legal responsibility.
